Overview

This race was developed in the 1800s was born as a cross between the Irish Setter, Labrador, Water Dog and Newfoundland St. John's. Much think the collie to be also in line with this dog. Care

The Flat Coated Retriever requires a very small amount of grooming and trimming, but should be brushed on a weekly basis. Their hair must be maintained, especially after being outdoors for extensive periods of time. It is imperative to be careful when brushing these dogs, especially when they are wet or has been cold.

Training

The Flat Coated Retriever is a dog extremely bright and capable of being formed, and they make wonderful interns. This race is incredibly joyous and full of energy, so their training must be consistent. Their performance however, should not be too repetitive, or they lose interest fairly quickly and get bored. Promote the discipline is not necessary and correction and constructive work best for Flat Coated Retriever. If the training sessions is full of fun and a mixture of techniques, this race Dogs will excel much further.

Health Issues

The Flat Coated Retriever is a breed with diligence and good health. These dogs have many endurance by nature, and will remain mostly healthy with plenty of exercise and rest. Standard tests and permits for hereditary diseases are vital, and these dogs will need on a regular basis. There are also some medical conditions to be aware, and they are hip dysplasia, the diabetes, epilepsy and deafness.
