Is the Flat Coated Retriever dog breed health?

Is the Flat Coated Retriever dog breed health or not? If this is not a race of Health please tell me what state of health are concerned. Thank you

I have not owned one personally, but my friend jeanbail who posts here sometimes is a longtime owner and very involved with the breed. I remember him talking about them not making the age of 9 because of some sort of cancer or heart related issue once. I'll email and see if he can post a response here.
